There are two main types of systems for domestic purposes. The simplest water collecting system is a water barrel with diverter for collecting the water from the down pipe from the gutter. The other type of system entails burying a large water tank in the ground and collecting water from the roof areas and or from runoff from the pavement areas. In the latter system the rainwater is pumped to a storage tank preferably in attic area of your dwelling. These larger systems can be filtered for use with close washing machines
